Wheelie bins are generally picked up from the user premises at end-of-life & transported with the wheels still fitted back to their depot, which means that the collected bins cannot be stacked in the vehicle. The space required per bin means that many trips may be needed to complete the operation.

By removing the wheels and axles from the bins at the collection site, and stacking the bins on the vehicle, man hours and vehicle miles can be saved, reducing cost and environmental impact.

Once back at the depot the remaining wheel can be removed from the axle – also using the WheelEx tool, enabling wheels and axles to be separately recycled.

Alternatively, using our Wheel Pin Resetting Tool, the axles and many of the removed wheels can be re-used, further saving costs in procurement of new parts

WheelEx – a safe and efficient way to remove bin wheels

Using the WheelEx tool does not involve any cutting, heat or impact tasks, resulting in a process that is essentially low risk and does not produce harmful dust or other residues and so improves health and safety for operators – in the collection vehicle and at the depot.
